UNO, Scrabble, Pictionary themed houses in Australia you can stay at

If there’s ever been a year to disconnect from all that’s happening around you – or in front of you on a screen – 2020 is it.

With all the time we have spent indoors, scrolling through our mobile phones or flicking from show to show on Netflix, this new holiday house could be the perfect way to log out of your everyday.

Swap your phone for Pictionary, or perhaps your laptop for a round or two of UNO – because these holidays homes have been converted into the ultimate board-gamers dream.

Travel company have partnered with the makers of Pictionary, UNO and Scrabble to create three ultimate games getaway locations dubbed the House of UNO, Pictionary Palace and Scrabble Shack.

With one nestled in the Sunshine Coast’s town of Maleny and the other two hidden away in the Blue Mountains’ Medlow Bath and Katoomba, the best part of these hideaways is the price.

For just $10 a night (or the price of a UNO card deck), Queenslanders can enjoy time away at the House of UNO – which sits elevated in the treetops of the Sunshine Coast hinterland – with incredible views across the rainforest below. Just two hours from Brisbane, the house is kitted out not just with the famous card game, but also Draw 4 pillows, UNO-themed throws and exclusive UNO pyjamas to lounge in. Plus, there’s also a theme for your morning cuppa – as guests will be given bespoke UNO mosaic mugs and printed ‘Reverse Card’ coasters to wine and dine on theme, and in style.

In NSW, guests have the option of a Scrabble-themed house, or for the artist at heart – the Pictionary Palace.

Both properties, which will be available for just $39 per night, are themed accordingly with a scrabble wall and oversized sand timers for those working against the clock with their drawing skills.

Luke Wilson from said the locations of the three homes were chosen because both regions had boomed with booking during the pandemic.

“With international travel off the cards, Aussies have rediscovered the great outdoors, with holiday homes and bush getaways seeing sizeable recent search increases,” he said.

“With these unique UNO, Pictionary and Scrabble homes, we’re encouraging Australians to rediscover this great country, while reconnecting with family and friends through game play.”

The House of UNO will be available to book for $10 per night from Wednesday 21 October for stays from Friday 23 October to Thursday 29 October. Bookings are capped at 2 nights per booking. The Scrabble Shack and Pictionary Palace will both be available to book from October 21 for $39 per night, although the stay dates slightly alter compared with the UNO escape.
