Jetstar’s Japan return for free sale launches

It’s one of the hottest destinations for Australian travellers this year, and now Jetstar has made it even cheaper to get there with this incredible sale.

From today, the budget airline has dropped a stunning sale that opens up travel dates to Japan from as early as March 2020 through to March 2021.

Fares start from $299 from Cairns to Tokyo. Factoring in the free return flight, this equates to a fare of just $149.50 each way.

Return flights to Tokyo (Narita) start from $389 from the Gold Coast, while flights from Cairns to Osaka and back start from just $269.

Flights from Sydney will set you back a little more, with return fares starting from $456 to Osaka and $486 to Tokyo.

To make the most of this deal, travellers will need to book an outbound “starter” fare. Then they will receive a return “starter” fare for free. As with all low-cost carriers, baggage and meals are not included.

The travel dates for the sale are March 2020 through to March 2021.

Japan is set to be one of the most popular spots for Australians to visit in 2020.

Research shows 170 per cent growth in trips to Japan by Australians over the last five years, with travel agents reporting more bookings to the Land of the Rising Sun than long-time Aussie favourites Bali or Thailand.

The data, collected by the Japan National Tourism Organisation, is set to only get bigger with tourist numbers to double for the 2020 Olympic Games.

“Japan’s strength and appeal as a travel destination lies in our difference – we can offer experiences that can’t be found anywhere else in the world, like eating yakitori in a laneway bar and chatting with locals, soaking in a natural hot spring with a view of Mt Fuji or even hiking along an ancient trail and visiting beautifully preserved post towns (places where travellers could rest on their journey in the 1600s),” said Kana Wakabayashi, executive director of the Japan National Tourism Organisation in Sydney.

Earlier this week, Jetstar dropped another deal, allowing kids to fly and stay for free in Bali on certain routes when accompanied by a full-paying adult.
